The body was laid out for viewing at Merriman’s Funeral Home in the city before being interred in Le Repentir Cemetery.
The funeral service was attended by Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee, relatives and senior and junior members of the Guyana Police Force.
Speaking on behalf of the Force was ‘A’ Division Commander Derrick Josiah, who told the mourners that the Force had also lost a brave and courageous lawman.
He added that the police are doing everything possible to bring the killers to justice.
The police rank, who was the father of a one-year-old girl, was killed while on patrol duty on Saturday night in Georgetown when he approached a vehicle they had been trailing through a city street.
As the cop got close to the vehicle, a gunman opened fire on him with what the police described as a high-powered weapon. The killer then sped away in the car.
The police have since arrested several persons who were questioned and released.
