THE body of 51-year-old Raymond Ahnal was yesterday morning discovered hanging from a beam in the kitchen of the house which he shared with his 21-year-old reputed wife at 108 Zeeburg Public Road, West Coast Demerara.

The discovery was made just after 04:20 hrs by Malita Mohabir who said that she made a check for the man after she discovered that he was missing for a lengthy time from their bed.
Speaking with the Guyana Chronicle yesterday at her home, Mohabir explained that she and Ahnal had retired at approximately 22:30hrs on Thursday and up to that point there was nothing that went wrong between them and neither did he seem bothered by anything.
She related that she awoke during the night to find that he was not in bed and after a while she went in search of him.
She added that as she ventured downstairs, she discovered the man hanging from the beam in the kitchen. She described the discovery as shocking, since she never expected her husband to take his own life.
She called a male friend from next door and he came over and called the police.
Ms. Mohabir said that for the past six months the man began to show signs that something was bothering him but repeated efforts to find out what it was were unsuccessful.
The dead man has been living in Guyana for the past five years. This publication has been informed that the police are treating the case as one of suicide.
