Larceny case dismissed as virtual complainant reneges

JOHN D’Ornellas and Shem Padmore (no addresses given) both appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday and pleaded not guilty to individual charges of simple larceny. They denied that, on Saturday, April 27, in Light Street, Georgetown, they stole, from Karen Benjamin, one Blackberry cellular phone worth $35,000 and $48,000 cash.
The defendants were represented by attorney-at-law Mr. George Thomas who pointed out that the virtual complainant will not continue with the case since she has been compensated.
The prosecution was unable to proceed because Benjamin declined to give evidence against the defendants and the case was dismissed.
