KMTC runs off second meeting next month

COME Sunday May 19, the Bush Lot Corentyne-based Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC), under the astute leadership of Retired Chancellor of the Judiciary Cecil Kennard, will run off their second horse race meeting for the year.

This time, it is the Pre-Independence meeting which will have over G$3M in cash and prizes up for grabs, with the feature race being run over a distance of seven furlongs for horses classified D1 and Lower.
Horse owners and trainers are reminded that these events, like any other events being organised by the KMTC and any other horse racing club, will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
With this in mind, if there are fewer than five horses entered for any event, the club reserves the right to cancel or reframe the event or reduce the price money, but only after consulting with the horse owners.
Added to that, five horses must be entered to start a race before a third place prize will be paid, while an additional two horses must be entered, before a fourth place prize is paid. Horse owners and trainers are asked to note the closing date for entries is May 12 or one week before the event is held.
Horses can be entered by contacting Roopnarine Matadial aka Shine (325-3192), Ivan Dipnarine (331-0316), Isabella Beaton (693-7812), Dennis Deroop (609-9143) or Kennard (623-7602, 225-4818 or 226-1399).
