INTERNATIONAL 6 led from start to finish, to emerge winners of the annual Sash Sawh memorial dominoes tournament, played last Saturday at Ernest Shop, Canal Number One, West Bank, Demerara.
The eventual winners tallied 85 games with the homesters Canal Six occupying the second spot with 78 while Secretariat ended in the cellar on 64.
Most Valuable Player Edmund Sammy led the way for the victorious side with 17 games, the same as Ron Callender while Martin Permaul and skipper Manniram Shew supported with 15 and 14 games respectively.
Basdeo Persaud of Canal Six also marked 17 games while Avinesh Persaud and Amarnauth scored 16 and 15 respectively.
The top marker for Secretariat was Govil Persaud with 14 games while the lone lovebird was A. Rahaman of Canal.
The competition was held in memory of the late Sash Sawh, a former minister of the People’s Progressive Party, who died under tragic circumstances in 2006.
Among those responsible for the staging of the tournament are United States-based Guyanese Mark Bookhan, Marvin Mahabali, Vishnu Persaud, Bibi Ali and Indra Jagmohan. Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall donated the MVP trophy.
