BALRAM Pooran was sentenced to three weeks imprisonment on Wednesday, for kicking his reputed wife, Regina Kellowan, about her body.

He pleaded guilty to the assault before Magistrate Roby Benn at Albion Court, Corentyne, Berbice.
Pooran had returned home under the influence of alcohol on March 27 and used a series of expletives to the virtual complainant who ignored him.
As a result, he became annoyed, pulled her out of the hammock where she was and dealt her several kicks at their Albion High Reef home.
Asked by the magistrate, Pooran said he did not wish to say anything.
The court was informed that the prisoner was previously convicted on assault charges.
