MARLON Balgobin, of Victoria Street, Cumberland Village, was granted $250,000 bail by Justice Brassington Reynolds, following a petition by his reputed wife, Wendy George, in the Berbice High Court on Thursday.
The petitioner, through attorney-at-law, Mr. Charrandas Persaud said Balgobin, the father of her three children and the sole breadwinner was at their home in a hammock on February 12 last, when police arrested him and took him to Central Police Station, New Amsterdam.
She said the cane harvester was charged, the following day, with being in possession of nine and a half grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking but had denied the allegation and was remanded to prison.
However, the court documentation revealed that the prosecution witnesses, Cadet Officer Singh and Constable Fredericks, both admitted that the illegal drug was found in a bottle on the western side of the house lot which the defendant occupied.
