The arrogance of parliamentary power

I FEEL obligated as a citizen of this country and being part of the health care constituents, to voice my condemnation of budget cuts against government- proposed estimates for the Specialty Hospital.
This is testimony of the opposition not being cognisant of the long-term objectives of this premier initiative which is aimed at transforming health care and

health care services in our country as part of the strategic commitment by our government to provide Guyanese with an opportunity to access and afford specialised and highly technical level of health care which are otherwise accessible beyond the shores of our country.
The opposition’s position in context of its duties owed to the citizenry should have been precinct within such responsibility to uphold and support the government’s proposition through a management process and proposed in their capacity, methods of management and operational participation.
But to completely disapprove funds is far from being responsible and certainly is an appalling representation of the people. I say so passionately from a medical standpoint, that this hospital is about saving life and this decision taken by the Opposition demonstrates clearly the arrogance of parliamentary power.
The implication therefore, in reality, points to a wasted opportunity at the expense of patients and the sanctity of human life, which should be the Opposition’s foremost consideration or at this juncture reconsideration in support of this much needed venture rather than preventing the country from developing.
I therefore appeal to all Guyanese who share similar sentiments to stand in solidarity with the government.
