RESIDENTS of Mashabo, an Amerindian community on the Essequibo Coast, are loud in praise of the Guyana Government for constructing a new $10M health centre in their village.
The centre which was constructed under the region’s capital work programme for 2012 will benefit more than four hundred Amerindians living at Mashabo.
Region 2 Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo who visited the community recently in company of two RDC councillors, Mr. Basil Bryan Persaud and Mr. Humesh Oditt, said two community health workers are currently attached to the centre to provide health care to residents. A midwife is also attached to the facility.
The government over the past years has completed several projects that have enhanced living standards in the community.
