ESSEQUIBO Magistrate Sunil Scarce remanded 45-year-old Noel Scott of Henrietta village for possession of cocaine when he appeared before the magistrate on Monday in the Charity Court and pleaded not guilty to a charge of having narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. On another charge before the magistrate, Scott pleaded guilty to having narcotics in his possession, and was fined $15,000 or two months’ imprisonment. Police reports are that on April 11 last, officers searched Scott during a patrol and found two grammes of cannabis sativa and three grammes of a whitish substance, suspected to be cocaine, in his pockets. He was then taken into custody.
The prisoner pleaded not guilty to the charge but was remanded to prison. His next appearance in court, at Anna Regina, will be on April 28.
