Noise nuisance on Sherriff Street beating my brains to a pulp, night after night

A WAVE of hopelessness engulfed me as I waited tired and dejectedly on Monday for the midnight hour hoping that the continuous loud heavy bass battering my head all week, but more cruelly and longer from Friday night to 3:00 hrs Saturday morning, and from Saturday afternoon to 3:00 hrs Sunday morning, then on Sunday night, April 14.  It never stopped until approximately 1 am on Monday. Myself  and  relatives don’t have or own a nightclub nor a Pools Hall yet it seems as though we do or have automatically become a branch of this entity, as the heavy, damaging extremely loud bass and loud music emanating from Buddy’s continually invades our home from Sunday to Sunday.

It triggers off a beating in my ears from the unbearable stress and racks my nerves night after night denying me the eight hours rest recommended by the doctor and myself and relatives the right to enjoy the peace and comfort we are entitled to in our home.
I still have to use the escape route for myself and granddaughter by placing my mattress on the floor. It is not that I am not affected there too, but somehow manage to get a little sleep eventually. The health of our very young children is endangered and under siege. Nothing is being done to right this wrong.
On Monday April 8, 2013, I tiredly paced the floor up and down in disgust and anger again waiting for the cut-off point at midnight with a sick child in my hands and I myself just getting over a nasty bout of the flu, it was 1 AM  the next morning.
I had called Quick Response just after midnight and spoken to a female rank explaining to her that I had a sick child in my hands and I am quite sure she heard the child crying.
She took the report but one hour later at 1 AM in the morning the music was still blasting.

I called again to let her know that the music was still playing loudly and she responded by letting me know that she had sent a patrol and that I was speaking too loudly in her ear. That was when I lost it and indeed began speaking loudly and in anger and frustration. She can never relate to this punishment and injustice, she doesn’t know how it feels to be tormented by loud music and heavy bass causing one to lose vital rest for over two years. I then called Kitty Police Station and made a report to a much more polite female rank. The music never stopped until just after 2 AM Tuesday morning.
It is frightening and sickening to know that no help will be coming when it comes to this particular entity. One has to be satisfied to just make a report and be promised that a patrol would be sent. No patrol goes there for whatever reason. The music stops whenever they choose to stop it.
I am once again calling on the authority to have measures put in place so that this cruelty, harassment and wanton disrespect for people’s right being trampled upon, over and over again, and people’s health being jeopardised. This cruelty has to be curbed and swiftly.
This ritual of the music being lowered if a complaint is made for a few days and then is business as usual, must be stopped. I am demanding protection for our young children.
Why can’t everyone enjoy his or her space? The right to read a book, watch television or just sit and enjoy their peace and comfort without heavy booming/base beating their brains to a pulp or just annoying them so late at nights. Why isn’t the cut-off point not being applied to this particular entity?
Those powerful equipment and appliances, even when turned down, still invades the house and the location of the large sound boxes is what is causing the sound to enter my place of residence from the Pool Hall. The night club is not properly sound proof. They should seek advice from ‘Voice of Guyana’ on the way how to sound proof.  No sound should be coming out of that Night Club or the Pool Hall for that matter causing so much discomfort.
If these people are so idiotic to be putting their health at risk night after night, why are they being encouraged to take away someone else’s, who is being careful with his/her health.
Is it any wonder that domestic violence and accidents are on the rise; this is one of the main contributor when people are allowed to drink and be exposed to/play loud music in their vehicles at those unearthly hours.
How many more days, especially on Wednesdays and weekends and holidays, will we be denied our right to enjoy peace and comfort in our home and to spend the nights as we please. I am a writer, who writes for children, how can I get inspiration when my brain is being beaten to a pulp night after night. If these people want to indulge this curse let them do it in such a way that only they will be enjoying this curse. The authorities also need to deal with those indiscipline DJ’s very seriously.
I close leaving a verse for my tormentors from a song I wrote and recorded entitled ‘Stop de Noise’.

Stop de noise, stop de noise
Yuh harming babies and dem lil children
Where is yuh conscience Mr Noise Nuisance
Think of dem senior men and women
Tek out yuh heart from de rubbish bin
Stop behaving so dam uncaring
If you want fuh damage yuh own hearing
Go right ahead but please don’t you draft me in.
