KASIE Maloney (no address given) pleaded not guilty to charges of intent to defraud, before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday.
Particulars of the offence said the 20-yerar-old, on April 6, at Brickdam Police Station, with intent to defraud, obtained from the Operations Room there, one hand held communication set, by falsely pretending to be a member of the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
He also pleaded not guilty to a similar charge, which alleged, on April 7, as well, he committed the crime, again, at the same station.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, objected to bail for the defendant, on the grounds that, he posed as a special constable when he was, in fact, an ex-policeman and signed his name to uplift the instrument.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Paul Fung-a-Fat, for the defence, confirmed that Maloney is an ex-cop and lives with his aunt at Third Street, Agricola, in Greater Georgetown.
The magistrate upheld the objection by the prosecutor and remanded the defendant to prison until April 24.
