Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad eyeing CONCACAF U-17 quarterfinal places

LA CHORRERA, Panama,  (CMC)-Barbados and Jamaica played to an exciting draw to keep alive their chances of quarter final places in the 2013 CONCACAF under-17 championship Monday night.

Trinidad and Tobago also kept hopes of securing a quarterfinal birth as well after defeating Costa Rica two nil at Estadio Agustin Muquita Sanchez in a group A game.
Barbados, who twice rallied from one goal deficits and Jamaica, attacked freely and kept both goalkeepers on their toes in a lively and entertaining first half.
The Jamaicans, who dominated the early minutes, drew first blood in the seventh minute when Raffique Bryan raced into the penalty area, beat two defenders and chipped keeper Keon Harding from 12 yards for a 1-0 advantage.
The goal prompted a series of attacks by the Bajans who came close in the 12th minute when Edward Okey placed a point-blank attempt from three yards over the net.
Five minutes later, the Barbadians were celebrating an equalizer when Shaquille Boyce burst into the area and powered a 12-yard shot past the Jamaican custodian.
The Reggae Boyz retook the lead in the 38th minute after Junior Flemmings fired from the penalty spot to record his second goal.
Barbados equalised a second time in the 55th minute after the unmarked Skakille Belle picked up a ball which ricocheted from the crossbar.
The Barbadians can book a spot in the knockout round with a victory over host Panama on Wednesday night while the Reggae Boyz can advance if either team wins.
The top two teams in each group will reach the quarterfinals.
Andre Fortune scored in the first half and Brent Sam added an insurance goal for the Soca Warriors in the second half to secure their Group B win over Costa Rica.
Fortune unleashed a low, 28-yard shot, inside the right post to give the Trinidadians a 1-0 lead.
Sam launched an 18-yard free kick with his left foot to the near post to secure a two-goal advantage in the 79th minute.
The Costa Ricans face Canada, 2-0 winners over Trinidad in the final group match on Wednesday night.
Trinidad and Tobago ended the group on three points.
