120 hours community service for one gramme marijuana

A DREDGE Creek, Pomeroon River miner was, on Tuesday, sentenced to do 120 hours of community service for possession of a narcotic.

Magistrate Sunil Scarce imposed the penalty on Owen Gonsalves at Anna Regina Magistrate Court.
Gonsalves was charged with having one gramme of cannabis (marijuana) for the purpose of trafficking.
The court was told that he had been arrested by police after he was found with the illegal substance in Charity Back Street, also on Essequibo Coast, the day before.
