AKEEM Edwards and Sandy King (no addresses given) appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, facing two charges of robbery under arms.
Particulars of one offence said, on Saturday, April 6, in Regent Street, Georgetown, they, being armed with an ice pick, robbed Afiana Lesperance of a shoulder bag valued $1,500, $10,000 cash, a $3,000 purse, a Guyana Passport, two bank cards and a birth certificate.
The other allegation against them is that, the same day also in Regent Street, they used the weapon, to rob Rondell Peters of one LG cellular phone worth $16,000 and $6,000 cash.
Attorney-at-law Mr. George Thomas, for the defendants who pleaded not guilty to both crimes, requested reasonable bail for them and Police Corporal Jomo Nichols, prosecuting, did not object.
However, the magistrate refused the grant and remanded the duo to prison until May 10.
A summons was also issued for Lesperance who did not attend court.
