Being unfairly blamed for others’ incompetence

I WAS dumbfounded when I heard the news on Channel 28 and Channel 65 respectively on March 28, 2013 on the above subject. Reporter Samuel Sukhandan said “Management weak” and Radha Motilall said “Management poor.”

Where on earth did these people get their information from? Dr Luncheon said: “Weakness in the process management system.” The meanings of the two statements are completely different. I have a copy of Luncheon’s briefing to the media.
As reporters it is imperative that reports are done accurately and not for people to jump on the bandwagon like everyone else. Also, Radha Motilall called for me sometime back for a transfer file. The call was taken by a clerk and relayed to me. The matter was expeditiously dealt with. I suppose she has conveniently forgotten that.
This inaccurate reporting is causing great disrespect to me. Lawyers’ clerks and the public are making derogatory remarks about me when they visit this office and I will not tolerate that. Would these two reporters like me to do that to them?
As for the audit, this is highly flawed. The person who did the audit is an attorney-at-law and obviously he cannot go against his fellow brothers and sisters of the legal fraternity, therefore, put the blame on me. The public visit the Land Registry and complain that they paid off the lawyers and now they are left hanging. When the staff locate the transfer, it is already checked by me and awaiting the response of the lawyers. However long they take to answer the queries is not my responsibility. I cannot put a gun to their heads to make them do their work. I would like to also give you an example of how the lawyers operate.
A matter was filed by a lawyer on behalf of a woman selling her property to a company. The relevant company documents were lodged with one address given. The Certificate of Title was issued in that one address. Months later, the lawyer called me and requested me to change the Title to another address; I replied in the negative and further informed him that was the address supplied to the Land Registry. I told him also that the only way I could change it is if the mistake was made by me, but as he was the one to make the mistake, he will have to address it to the court. His reply was, if he went to court his clients would think he is incompetent, so in his opinion I must take the blame and be called incompetent. I don’t think so!
There are some lawyers who are still honest with their clients and those I can count on my one hand.
I am always being blamed for everything, why is that? I can tell you. I do not take bribes and am not corrupt. I don’t “knock glasses” with anyone. I do my work here at the Registry and everyday I take home work. This Registry handles thousands of matters and even when a staff member makes a mistake, the lawyers say I did it. Is that fair? No!
I invite the lawyers and the public to visit the Land Registry to check these same matters the audit was done on and see for themselves the discrepancies.
Lastly, a copy of the report was sent to me on April 3, 2013 by the lawyer/auditor and I was told that I was not supposed to get a copy. What nonsense is that?
