OUTGOING president of the Guyana Football Federation (ag) (GFF), Franklin Wilson emphatically told the Media that he will not be seeking any executive position when the Federation holds its much anticipated elections next Friday April 12.
“No! I am not seeking any executive position, but if I can help I will. As you know I am part of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Marketing Committee, part of the CONCACAF FUTSAL Committee and part of the FIFA Development Committee, so I will still be active and I will support whoever the person is that is elected.
“I love to support. I love football. I have been in it for a very long, long time and I believe everyone of us has a role to play, a contribution to make,” Wilson replied to the Media in an invited comment, last Thursday, on the much-talked-about GFF elections set for the Savannah Suite of the Guyana Pegasus.
Questioned on whether he thinks he did enough for the sport or if he could have done more, Wilson stated, “I am happy to see where we are at, but I think in going forward if we are not conscious where we came from, if we don’t work to secure what we have and develop what we would have achieved then there is going to be some tough days ahead.”
Wilson also warned that Administrators should refrain from back-biting, back-stabbing, bickering and treacherous behaviour since such would hurt the development of the youngsters.
He added that in his year’s acting as the boss of football he is happy with what he has been able to accomplish, citing the continuation of the GOAL Project, Guyana’s best-ever World Cup qualification performance and the return of the GFA to the GFF as the main highlights.
