Several dogs die suddenly at Devonshire Castle

SEVERAL dogs died under mysterious circumstances at Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast, over the weekend and residents want the Veterinary Division of the Agriculture Ministry to investigate the incidence. Reports said the animals took ill suddenly and could not eat nor drink liquid, before their death.
Their owners said it seems as though a disease suddenly emerged in the atmosphere that targeted the canines.
One man, who did not give his name, said he lost two within two days but teenager Christine Lall said her family lost two within a three-day period.
She said one of them, called ‘Brown Boy’, was strong and healthy but stopped while walking on the road in front their yard, looked at them, then wagged its tail, as if to say goodbye and headed for the backdam where he died that same day.
He was very good and guarded their yard well at night, the girl said.
Other villagers also lamented their unexpected loss. (Prabhulall)
