Owners face charges after car collision

AN ACCIDENT involving two cars resulted in the owners facing individual charges before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday. One of the defendants, Martin Agar, of 188 Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, was charged with threatening behaviour, to which he pleaded not guilty.
It is alleged that, on March 14, he threatened Terrence Phil, causing a breach of the peace.
Phil also faced allegations which said he issued a threat and assaulted Agar to cause him actual bodily harm on March 14. He, too, pleaded not guilty to both.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, said both defendants were at the Guyoil Gas Station on Sheriff Street, Georgetown, when they hit each other’s car and an argument ensued between them.
The prosecutor said both men took out choppers from their vehicles and brandished them at each other and the confrontation was reported.
Agar was granted $20,000 bail and Phil was ordered to post $60,000 on the threatening charge and $80,000 on the assault charge. The cases will be called, again, on April 15.
