US Army doc died of multiple gunshot injuries : … Police working on theory he might have known his killer

New York College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate, Dr. Max Kungel, who was found dead Sunday morning at the  backlands of Number 72 Village , Corentyne, died as a result of multiple gunshot injuries which perforated his heart. So says government pathologist Dr. Vivikanand Brijmohan, after he performed a post mortem at the Skeldon Hospital on Monday
Five gunshot injuries were discovered in the left upper abdomen, resulting in shock and severe haemorrhaging.
The deceased, who had joined the United States Army in 2003, had returned home on March 5 to commemorate his grandmother’s first death anniversary on March 23, a day after he would have celebrated his 43rd birthday.
Meanwhile, a relative who spoke under condition of anonymity, told this newspaper that Kungel received a telephone call shortly after 22:00hrs on Saturday, and left without saying where he was going.
Police believe that the deceased knew his killer, whom he had trusted, resulting in him leaving his home.
Kungel’s body was discovered in a rented Toyota Tundra, hours after he had left home.
A relative had gone to the area after receiving an anonymous call.
As the investigations continue, searches are being  made for  a personal technological gadget, his mobile, along with identification documents, foreign currency and gold jewellery.
