NSC Age Group Badminton Tournament

Ramdhanis dominate tournament to take three titles each
THE RAMDHANI siblings Priyanna and Narayan Ramdhani dominated the National Sports Commission (NSC) Age Group Badminton tournament which culminated last Friday at the Queen’s College Badminton Courts, with the playing of Under-15 and 21 Boys finals.

Priyanna, the reigning national women’s champion, carted off the Under-13, U-15 and U-17 Girls singles title, while her brother who is the national junior and senior champion, won the Boys Under-17, U-19 and U-21 titles respectively.
The Under-15 Boys Singles final saw Jonathan Mangra defeat Omari Joseph in a tiring three-set for both players, with Jonathan winning the first game at 21-11, Omari bounced back to take the second game 30-29 and Jonathan finally won the third game 21-14 and the match.
Earlier in the week, Omari had defeated Jonathan in the Under-17 semi-finals, before losing to Narayan Ramdhani in the final who kept his fine form to defeat his rival Nicholas Ali in two straight games in the Boys Under-21 final.
Narayan won that matchup which was one of the fastest games in recent times, with controlled winning drops, smashed and quick movements which enabled both players to cover the court with speed, after he took the first two games 21-15, 23-21.
The presentation will be made to the champions, runners-ups and third-placed winners on Monday, March 18 at 18:00hrs at a venue to be announced by the Guyana Badminton Association.
The various winners are: Under-11 Girls Singles, Leianna Chung; Boys Singles, Elan Rahaman; Under-13 Girls Singles, Priyanna Ramdhani; Under-15 Boys Singles, Jonathan Mangra; Girls Singles,  Priyanna Ramdhani; Under-17 Boys Singles, Narayan Ramdhani; Girls Priyanna Ramdhani, Under-19 and 21 Boys Singles Narayan Ramdhani.
