GUYANA Defence Force (GDF) Lieutenant Jermaine Whyte, of 31 Special Forces Squadron, suffered a broken left leg on Thursday morning after landing at Cheddi Jagan International Airport from a 6,000-foot free fall practice jump.
He was among 11 other soldiers who completed the exercise as part of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority’s (GCAA’s) centenary anniversary celebrations.
Whyte recently received training in the People’s Republic of China, where some 40 military officers from around the world were trained.
Reports said that, following the Thursday mishap, he was resting after receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital, and would be inactive for about six weeks.
