THE constant attacks on Chinese nationals, their businesses and contributions to the local economy have been condemned by the Guyana-China Business Council.
The council issued a press release to the media calling on them to be responsible in their reportage and avoid publishing unsubstantiated information which has the capacity to create fear. That practice in itself, the release added, presents a security dilemma for the Chinese nationals and could diminish the interest of foreign investors who would like to inject much needed foreign capital into the economy of Guyana.
I have news for the authorities in Guyana.
Newspaper owners are in the business to sell their newspapers and to make loads of money and it’s called free market enterprise.
It’s your duty to not merely just condemn but to take very serious action against what newspaper owners print in their papers.
Clearly there are two newspapers in SN and KN, whose owners are so hateful and spiteful that they will try to inflame and to incite not only against Chinese but against Indians too.
Government does not have any idea how much SN and KN invested in the PNC and the AFC to destroy the PPP/C.
SN and KN bashing of Chinese can be seen as clear as daylight now that two Chinese businesses were attacked and robbed with more to come.
You bet your life if these Chinese business people were to react to defend themselves, count on Mark Benschop, the so-called black activist to lead the mob against them to loot and burn out their businesses.
Those politicians who incited and inflamed the Linden and Agricola uprising will never be brought to trial so those who got hurt can have justice.
SN and KN will never be held responsible for what they print, be it true or false, to incite and to inflame.
From the time these two news media said: ‘no Guyanese are working on the construction of the Marriott’, those in authority should have shut it down immediately until the owners prove no Guyanese are indeed working on the Marriott, since Guyanese are indeed involved with the Marriott construction.
News media and politicians will almost always get away with murder. This is how the ordinary citizen sees it.
Not one will ever be brought to justice for mayhem they caused to innocent citizens who always bear the brunt of mob rule illegal actions.
