MINISTER of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali has confirmed that the Parfait Harmonie access bridge is currently about 95 percent completed, and is scheduled to be opened to the public shortly. This concrete structure links Parfait Harmonie to Canal No. 1 Polder, West Bank Demerara. Parfait Harmonie is a rapidly growing community with the addition of areas such as Recht-Zoor-Zee, Belle West, and Schoonard Region 3. The Minister said that soon, this housing scheme will rival that of Diamond/Grove in terms of size.
Meanwhile, the ministry is working on another significant housing development at Versailles – Lust-en-Rust , that will see the creation of about 1000 lots within these two areas.
With regard to the alternative highway leading into Parfait Harmonie, the minister said that contractors are mobilising and works are set to commence shortly.
“We are hoping that by the end of August, or early September, we can have that road completed,” Minister Ali said.
Once completed, this highway will bring tremendous benefits to the residents of Parfait Harmonie and surrounding communities, particularly in terms of easier access and lower transportation costs.
The cost of the project is over $600M and the contractors include Geico Construction and General Services and BK International.
