Police probing gunning down of Surinamese on Corentyne

Police are probing the March 1 murder of thirty-year-old Surinamese Lucien Agard who was gunned down in front his home at No.59 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

altAgard was fatally shot to the head while he was returning home from a nearby shop. The father of three was killed at about 19:40 hrs and several men reportedly fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
Although no one has been arrested so far, a businessman was questioned and later released following the murder and police said they are continuing investigations.
It was reported that Agard’s background is being investigated since he was fingered in a multi-million dollar robbery in Berbice along with a relative at a business place sometime ago.
Agard’s body was found on the roadway in front of his residence at No.59 Village, Corentyne, with a suspected bullet wound to the head.
