Septuagenarian charged with Tucville murder makes court appearance

THE septuagenarian charged with last week murder in Tucville, Georgetown, made a court appearance yesterday. Before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, Donald Mop, 77, was charged with the unlawful killing of Winsel Roger Edwards called ‘Buck’ on February 15.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, informed the court that the accused and the deceased were known to each other and, that day, had been calling each other names.
The prosecutor said the accused left the presence of the other man but returned and went after the latter with a knife and dealt him a stab wound to the chest.
The injured man collapsed and, when rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) was pronounced dead.
When the magistrate enquired his address from the accused, he declared that he is not living anywhere.
The case was transferred to Magistrate Judy Latchman for March 8 so a date can be set for the commencement of the preliminary inquiry (PI).
