Pensioner knifes 33-year old to death -likely to appear in court today

THE PENSIONER, “Chetty”, only name given, who allegedly stabbed 33 year old Winsel Roger Edwards is expected to appear in court today charged with premeditated murder.

A police source told this publication that the pensioner spent the weekend at the Brickdam Police Station lockups after he was arrested on Friday afternoon following his murderous act in Tucville.
This publication was informed that on Friday in Tucville “Chetty” and Edwards were in a discussion at a vulcanizing shop in the area when they began tantalizing each other. It was said that after the tantalizing got too much for the pensioner he left the location.
The man later returned with a knife concealed underneath his clothing. It is not clear if they had a second round of tantalizing but persons who were present at the location informed that they saw the men talking as if it were a normal conversation and observed them to be hugging each other. It was only after a few seconds that they realised that the pensioner had embraced the young man to plunge a knife in his abdomen.
On Friday the Guyana Chronicle visited the Lot 320 East Ruimveldt-Self Help Square home of the dead man where his mother Patricia Dainty said she first heard of her son’s death by his older brother who telephoned her.
The woman said that she received a call informing her that Roger had stabbed and that she needed to go down to the hospital. She said that her son told her he received the news from someone at the hospital.
According to Ms. Dainty she telephoned the father of the man and they went down to the hospital. She said that she was greeted by the doctors who questioned her about what she was told about her son’s condition.
To that she responded by saying that she was told he had been stabbed and had died. The doctors then related to her that once that is what she had been told she should come and identify her son’s body which she did.
The mother said that when she entered the room her son lay on a bed as if he were sleeping.
The police are still investigating the matter.
