A MIXED Demerara Assizes jury, yesterday, found murder accused Gregory Anthony Padmore unfit to plea because of his psychiatric condition which was confirmed by expert psychiatrist, Dr. Bhiro Harry.
As a consequence, Justice Navindra Singh ordered that the prisoner be sent to the Berbice Hospital where he would be given the necessary treatment.
Dr. Harry testified that he had the prisoner under observation for some time and concluded that he was unfit to stand trial.
According to the doctor, Padmore is in a psychotic state, does not understand and could not answer questions properly. He would, sometimes, indulge in lengthy laughter, without cause.
The judge expressed the hope that the accused would get the necessary treatment at the hospital.
Mr. Peter Hugh appeared for the defence while the State was represented by Mrs. Konyo Thompson and Ms. D. Singh.
