AG gets leave to answer McLean gratuity claim

ACTING Chief Justice Ian Chang, yesterday, granted leave for the Attorney General (AG) to file an affidavit in  answer to the constitutional motion, by Major General (ret’d) Norman Mc Lean, seeking payment of $7.9M gratuity.

altIt happened when the case was called and State Counsel Annette Singh from the AG’s Chambers appeared and requested time to do so.
She was given 14 days and the matter was fixed for hearing on March 7.
Mc Lean moved to the Court after making unsuccessful demands to several Heads of State following his service in the Guyana Police Force, Guyana National Service (GNS) and the Guyana Defence Force for decades.
