Duo remanded on armed robbery charge

ORLANDO Alicock and Chavez Alicock who are said to be working in the interior (no addresses given) were remanded to prison yesterday on a robbery under arms charge.

They appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and were not required to plead to the indictable charge, which stated that on February 9, being armed with a gun, they robbed Amanda Kyte of one shoulder bag valued $5,000, three gold chains priced at $216,000, six gold rings valued $216,000 and $250,000 cash.
Chavez faced an additional charge which stated that on February 9, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Dwayne Kyte with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, objected to bail based on the prevalence and seriousness of the offence. He said the defendants are also flight risks since they both work in the interior.
The duo was remanded to prison and will make another court appearance on February 25.
