Fined defendant claims marijuana cleans his liver

A DRUG defendant pleaded guilty to cannabis (marijuana) possession yesterday, claiming he uses it to clean his liver.

Damon McGregor (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson, charged with having three grammes on February 8.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said ranks, acting on a tip-off, went to a house on Robb Street to conduct a search and found the narcotic on the defendant.
The prosecutor said the defendant admitted that the narcotic belonged to him and he would, usually, boil and drink it for the stated purpose.
He was fined $5,000 and instructed to do six weeks community service at Alberttown Police Station, in Georgetown.
