THE Georgetown leg of the Children’s Mash Competitions concluded last Friday with physical display at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in categories of jump rope, combination and pyramids.
For the 6-11 year group, South Ruimveldt, School of the Nations and Sophia primary schools copped the first, second and third spots, respectively, for the Jump Rope category. Meanwhile, in the combination category, Sophia and Graham’s Hall Primary secured the top spots, and North Georgetown gained the first position in the Pyramids.
The competitions will pick up again with the finals which will bring together performers from all the education districts who will be vying for the top spots. This aspect will include Dance and Masquerade, Calypso, Dramatic Poetry, Choir Presentation ‘Salute to Guyana’, costume, physical display and the much anticipated Costume Parade.
The Children’s Mashramani Competitions are being held under the theme “Reflecting Creativity Embracing Diversity” and aids the promotion of expressive arts and aesthetic education in the school system.
