RESPECTED Muslim scholar, Huzoor Maulana Zain ul Akhtab Siddiqi is scheduled to visit Guyana from February 20 to 25 and he will be accompanied by Shaykh Esa Alexander Henderson. Local Muslim officials said it was made possible through the International Muslim Organisation of Toronto, Canada and the visiting delegation will be led by IMO President, Al Haj Omar Farouk.
On arrival they will start their itinerary at Peter’s Hall Jama Masjid, East Bank Demerara and continue, on February 21, at Met-en- Meerzorg West Masjid, West Coast Demerara.
On February 22, they will conduct the Friday prayers for Queenstown Masjid/Muslim Youth Organisation in Woolford Avenue; Darul Uloom in East Street and Alexander Village Old Mosque, also in Georgetown.
That same day, the Central Jama Masjid, in New Amsterdam, Berbice will host them at 18:30 hrs. On February 23, the Anjuman Hifazatul Islam and Windsor Forest East Masjid will be their hosts but the main programme will be at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex, at West Coast Demerara, too, on February 24.
On February 25, the University of Guyana Islamic Society (UGIS) will stage a programme on the Turkeyen Campus while the final appearance of the visitors will be at the Mon Repos Masjid, East Coast Demerara.
The delegation will also have meetings with the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) and the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO) and pay courtesy calls on several Government functionaries, the Opposition Leader and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
The itinerary was coordinated through the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex and the Guyana United Sad’r Islamic Anjuman with the support of all the Sunni Muslim Organisations in Guyana.
