A MAN yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for stealing one packet of underpants. Carl Melville (no address given) pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on February 1, he stole one packet of underpants valued $1,000 property of Rani’s Fashion.
Police Corporal Seon Blackman, prosecuting, said on the day in question the defendant went into Rani’s Fashion and he was seen acting in a suspicious manner.
Blackman said a search was conducted on the defendant and the item was found under his jersey. He said the police were called in and the defendant was arrested and charged.
The magistrate ordered that the defendant undergo three years probation and a probation report be sent to the court every six months on the progress made.
She also warned the defendant that if he commits any other offence he can be sent back to the court for sentencing.
