A New Amsterdam supermarket employee accused of embezzling $97,808 from her employer appeared before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo on Monday. Shellisha Jantanie, 24, of Adelphi Housing Scheme, East Canje Berbice, was charged indictably and put on $50,000 bail.
She had been employed by Valencia Ali of M. Ali Supermarket two weeks prior to the alleged occurrence on January 19.
The case will be called again on February 15.
