The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha’s Sankritik Kendra is currently undergoing major rehabilitation. This maintenance started approximately three months ago and is expected to be completed by March. The Kendra, which was established on May 5, 1991, has a need for expansion and maintenance. It has been the venue for many functions which include, Holi Utsav, Kala Utsav, Phagwah mela and Bazaar, Arrival Day Activities and Dharmic Rama Krishna Primary School Graduation.
This institution is known for the numerous training programs offered in many areas including Pandits’ training, Sanskrit and Hindi, dance, music, singing, Indian Cookery, peer education and skills training. Most of these training programmes have been done for free or at very little cost to students.
As a result of the increasing number of students responding to the programmes offered, the building will now have an increased capacity. (Geeta Rampersaud)
