I’VE seen it many times in movies; people not only forget something that happened, but they forget who they are entirely, including their name. A much used plot device, retrograde amnesia occurs when a person forgets part or all of his or her past. Amnesia is prevalent in many works of fiction; such as in author Robert Ludlum’s Bourne series, in which the main character, Jason Bourne, suffers from retrograde amnesia.
However, I’m afraid that such a medical condition is no longer confined to fictional characters trapped in our television sets. There’s an article written by Frederick Kissoon, titled “The failure of the Buxton Conspiracy” republished in the Guyana Chronicle Newspaper on January 13th, 2013. In his seven part article, Mr. Kissoon narrated a very frightening, in-depth report on the caustic fusion of politics and criminality in Guyana’s political history. This is not intended as a psychiatric evaluation of Mr. Kissoon’s mental condition; but what is obvious is that at some point since his penning of the aforementioned journal, something must have went horribly wrong to this man’s grip on reality. Could he be suffering from retrograde amnesia?
Maybe.
The article made for an interesting read on the violent, extremist nature of the WPA, ACDA, and the now APNU, formerly known as PNC. It has provided a glaring insight into the mental health of a once scholarly political scientist, his deterioration of morality, and close affiliation with the current “wild” cabal that exists in Guyanese politics today. In part one of his seven part, captioned Voodoo Political Theory, he briefly touched on the inner machination of how African leadership in the WPA, PNC, and ACDA at the time took an unprincipled position in galvanizing support for their political movement and criminal agenda. They manipulated and exploited the uneducated black youths in the Buxton community to serve as loyal minions in their quest to secure executive power. It necessitated the perversion of political theory and revolutionary philosophy to legitimize the sadistic nature of their criminal undertakings.
Kissoon wrote, “In the case of the Buxton conspiracy, the people who were teaching members of Ocean Eleven the arts of politics were feeding them with voodoo political theory. These persons know nothing about Guyanese history, the political sociology of this country and how to define oppression. It is frightening what the violent youths of Buxton were educated in. They were told the most untruthful things about the government, the business class and the East Indian community”.
To most of us familiar with the modus operandi employed by anti- PPP, anti- national factions, the indoctrination method shouldn’t come as a surprise; it has always been extreme and excessive in its use of scare tactics and racial overtures to embolden the merciless assault on the Indo- Guyanese and business community.
According to Kissoon, “The anti-Indian indoctrination had four aspects:
(1) Indian people have taken Guyana from Blacks who built it
(2) Indian people are keeping a racist government in power
(3) Indian people have all the wealth, Blacks have none, and
(4) the crazy Kean Gibson theory of a secret plan to exterminate Blacks in Guyana”.
Isn’t it peculiar how the more things change the more they remain the same?
Immediately I thought of the recent Linden unrest of 2012, when the government proposed to have Region 10 onboard the national power grid over a three year process. What should have been a peaceful protest organized by residents and businesses in the Linden community was hijacked by agents of anarchy: Kissoon, Benschop, Lincoln Lewis, Aubrey Norton, Gerhard Ramsaroop, and other members of APNU and AFC. The insertion of political organs and social extremists in a democratic expression by the residents of Linden morphed into a display of lawlessness; and in the aftermath was wanton destruction to public and private infrastructure, loss of lives, and an extensive recovery process that will incur hundreds of millions of dollars. It is symbolic of the wild men, death and destruction.
Take for example the pivotal role played by Mark Benschop and the late Ronald Waddel during the Buxton resistance. They recruited, cultivated, and nurtured baby guerrillas who were said to be between the ages of 14- 22, some even as young as age 12. These young men were armed with AK- 47 and given copious amounts of marijuana and cocaine before unleashing havoc on both ethnic groups. No one escaped their wrath. Mr. Kissoon, during the Buxton resistance epoch, rightfully chastized Mr. Benschop for his criminal involvement in the ’02 prison break, characterized him as an extremist, a wild, unstable person, infatuated with himself, who showed no respect for established political leaders. He educated the minds of Afro- Guyanese with everything that was historically and politically wrong.
In his Kaieteur News column on 01/ 27/ 2013, Is President Ramotar changing his opinion of me? Mr. Kissoon had this to say about his state of mind at the time of writing his seven part article, “But the article that they reproduced in the Chronicle last week shows the nature of my mind, heart and soul. I am not pro- or anti-Indian. I believe in human rights and my condemnation of the violence in Buxton originated from my human rights physiology”.
And here lies the deterioration of Mr. Kissoon’s morality. What happened to his mind, heart and soul since then is anybody’s guess; maybe they were sold to the devil. Has Frederick Kissoon changed his opinion of Frederick Kissoon, I know I have. I would definitely want to hear his opinion of Mark Benschop, given their current alliance. Would he want to defend himself and explain to the Guyanese public his affinity with the enemy, Mark Benschop, who, from every indication, is no better now than he was then, he is the same racist, radical lunatic, perpetuating his animosity towards the Indo- Guyanese community and the PPP, or any one or business that supports the government in its efforts to develop our country.
If ever there was a clinical terminology that aptly befits an individual whose mental health deteriorates as a result of his physical environment and society developing and improving, but yet is unable perceive or appreciate such positive growth, it would be termed Kissoonesia Dissonance.
Isn’t it ironic, now that the condition in Buxton has greatly improved and to a larger extent so too has the social and economic status of our country under the People’s Progressive Party, the more irrational Mr. Kissoon’s thinking becomes.
For now though, I hope he does get himself a psychiatric evaluation like his partner- in- crime Gerhard prescribed. And to the general public I appeal to your better judgment. Please don’t hit Uncle Freddie on his head He’s a sick man, you know.
