I saw Pride glorified
In the plain of Dura
Where all must bow
To worship the inanimate
I saw Pride on an elevated pedestal
Boasting itself the best
Above mortals and immortals
Challenging even the gods
I saw Pride fallen in the dust
And even the inscription at its base
Was debased by passing time
Leaving no memories but shame
Time has no respect for the Proud
It affords them duration to be
Then they are not to be
Returning to the dust of their hearts
