Hutson is new AAG president

SPORTS personality Aubrey Hutson was elected as the new Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) president on Sunday following the hosting of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) building. Hutson, former president of the East Coast Demerara Football Association (EDFA), won from the former president Colin Boyce on Sunday 6–3 on the voting system.
Boyce, who was not really moved at the loss, is of the opinion that change is inevitable and wishes the best for the sport. He made congratulatory remarks to the new president and council members, and pledged his support to the administration for the future.
The newly elected president, in an invited comment, disclosed that his resignation would be certain if the proceedings become a one-man show. His plan for the sport is to develop the young athletes so that they become continually successful.
What he observed was the association did  not have a solid plan to give Track and Field a boost and so he intends to work keenly with coaches and support them in their development of athletes.
Meanwhile, Cheryl Sam and Amanda Hermonstine were elected as the treasurer and assistant treasurer, respectively.
The council members are Leslie Black, John Martins, Faye Naughton, Wayne Walcott and Mark Scott. Hutson stated that the positions of general secretary and assistant general secretary will be named shortly.
