THE police in Trinidad have contacted their Guyanese counterparts for background information on Guyanese Tyron Achaia who was gunned down outside his Freeport apartment on the island on January 8. Guyana’s Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said police here are cooperating with their Trinidad counterparts, but so far there has been no development.
The body of the Guyanese was shipped here and is awaiting the arrival of one of his siblings, who is away on a fishing trip, when a date for burial will be announced.
Achaia, 28, formerly of 381 Good Hope, New Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, was returning to his Freetown apartment in Trinidad after doing his laundry, when he was confronted by a gunman and shot and killed.
Achaia was a supervisor at the Highway to Heaven Restaurant and Bar on the Solomon Hochoy Highway, Freeport, and resided with an elderly landlady.
He was not married and had no children. He had been living on the island for years.
