THE opening day of the Petra Organisation/Milo Under-20 Football Tournament saw three teams record commanding victories against their opponents at the Ministry of Education (MoE) ground, Carifesta Avenue. A total of 14 goals were scored in the three matches that saw Charlestown Secondary defeat North Georgetown 4–0, Christ Church Secondary crush Ascension Secondary 6–0 and Tucville Secondary humble St John’s College 4-0.
In the feature match between Tucville and St John’s, the pint-size forward Hubern Blair recorded a terrific hat-trick, scoring in the tenth, 20th and 53rd minutes. He was supported by his teammate Denzel Green who found the back of the net in the 15th minute.
In match two, Christ Church’s Andre Trotz (7th, 58th) and Nyron Joseph (19th, 28th) led their side with a brace each while their teammates Kadeem Blackman (52nd) and Jovontay Best (59th) scored a goal each against a hapless Ascension side.
Earlier in the day, Charlestown kicked off the tournament with a bang as they were led to victory by Barron Dick who scored in the 13th and 56th minutes and he received assistance from Aroudy Bransford (43rd) and Ravin Naughton (50th) who scored a goal each.
Today the action continues at the same venue from 12:00hrs as St George’s Secondary take on Tutorial High School then Cummings Lodge Secondary face Houston Secondary from 13:50hrs and the day wraps up with the South Ruimveldt versus Queen’s College match at 15:45hrs.
