THE 2nd edition of the Trophy Stall-sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Under-17 League kicked off yesterday at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground with one match. Eagles Football Club, based at Sara Lodge, Stewartville, took full points from Bagotville/Nismes compliments of a Stephan Griffith goal in the final 10 minutes of the 90-minute encounter.
The official opening of the tournament is set for next Sunday at the same venue from 13:00hrs where the participating teams will be involved in the ceremonial March Past.
Following the opening, two matches will be contested. Defending champions Den Amstel Porkknockers will be featured as the main attraction against Seawall FC of Pouderoyen with the first game at 13:30hrs, bringing together Uitvlugt Warriors and Young Achievers, another Pouderoyen-based team.
