JUSTICE Dawn Gregory will decide, today, on the admissibility of an oral statement attributed to the number one accused in the Better Hope murder case, Mortimer Melville called ‘Dellon’.
Melville, represented by attorney-at-law Mr. Huckumchand and Jevon Ismond, defended by attorney-at-law Mr. Compton Richardson are indicted for the unlawful killing of Nazir Ali on the August 21, 2007.
The victim was fatally shot during a robbery bid at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.
A post mortem performed on August 23, 2007, disclosed that death was due to multiple gunshot injuries.
Huckumchand is objecting to the attestation being tendered on the ground that it was not obtained in accordance with the Judges’ Rules.
But State Prosecutors Renita Singh and Diana Kaulesar are contending that it was given freely and voluntarily.
