GT&T Berbice completed their out-right win against President’s XI in the first session on day four of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) organised Inter-County competition at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, yetserday.
GT&T Berbice needed just four wickets to win, all of which were taken by their seamer, Keon Joseph. The President’s XI resumed from their overnight score of 135 – 6 but only got to 188 to give the opposition the win by an innings and 58 runs.
Anthony Bramble was not out on 78 overnight and eventually got to 96 (16×4) before he was trapped by Joseph. Collis Butts batted well alongside Bramble and was unbeaten on 25 as the rest of the wickets fell.
Raj Nahnan, Seon Daniels and Gilford Moore were the other victims removed by Joseph. He finished with 5 – 65 while Gudakesh Motie had 2 – 57.
The match which started on Thursday had President’s XI batting first to make 182 in their first innings then Berbice replied with 428 – 8 declared. President’s XI combined score was 370.
On Saturday, Demerara defeated Essequibo on the third day. Essequibo made scores of 167 and 187 after batting first while the eventual victors also batted twice to produce scores of 259 and 97 – 2.
