A BODY was last evening discovered in the vicinity of the 1763 Monument on Vlisssengen Road in the city.
The body, a male of African descent was not immediately identified, and was clad in a dark coloured jersey and short pants, and was barefooted.
The police arrived after being informed and cordoned off the area. Several persons living in the area said the man was a stranger to them.
Some said it might have been the missing Guyana Energy Authority worker, Levoy Taljit, but this was soon quelled when they learnt that Taljit is of Indian descent.
The police are continuing their investigations.
