LOW and middle-income house lot owners as well as vulnerable categories have been taking advantage of the agreement between the Ministry of Housing and Water’s Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) and Toolsie Persaud Limited (TPL) Group of Companies. Under that arrangement, the potential home builders are able to purchase building materials from the latter at wholesale prices.
Commercial Manager/Director of Toolsie Persaud Limited, Mr. Kadirullah made this disclosure in a telephone interview with the Guyana Chronicle yesterday.
However, while highlighting this, he also mentioned that not as many persons are making use of the offer as he would like.
According to him, the ministry provides the buyers with a letter stating that they meet the criteria to benefit from the lower prices and they would then approach the company to buy.
Kadirullah said the deal, signed on September 12, 2012, covers all materials sold by the company.
He anticipates qualifying allottees to benefit from as much as between 10 and 15 percent discounts when making purchases from his company.
The merchandise available under the arrangement includes lumber, quarry materials, electrical and other hardware items.
When the pact was inked, Minister of Housing and Water, Mr. Irfaan Ali observed that it would have tremendous impact on ordinary Guyanese, who fall within the rank and file of the CHPA’s low or middle- income earners.
