THE body of sixty-one-year old watchman Jagdat Ramcharran was found bound on the porch of the Iskcon Hari Krishna Mandir , just after 03:00hrs, on Monday, hours after he reported for duty at the Williamsburg location on the Corentyne. Ramcharran, a father of two, lived at 15 B Bloomfield Village , about two miles away from his place of employment.
Senior member of the temple, Tula Persaud Udit known as Haribol, told the Guyana Chronicle that he was awakened at 03:00hrs, when a devotee, who usually conducts the first worship session, informed him that something was wrong at the temple, as the watchman did not answer his calls.
The member subsequently scaled the fence and found the watchman.
According to Udit, who has responsibility for security, instructions were given to the member to go to Rose Hall Police Outpost to make a report.
Udit said he arrived at the temple and saw the watchman lying on his side, with his hands and feet bound. And there was a wound on his head.

a small pair of gold slippers which is placed at the feet of the murtis.
Udit recalled that last year two murtis were stolen from the premises, and after a reward of $10,000 was made, they were returned.
Meanwhile, a suspect has been identified, but is yet to be arrested.
