A GUYANA Defence Force (GDF) soldier appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell yesterday, charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Clint McKenzie, 19, of Lot 278 Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, last December 30, he unlawfully assaulted Chad Layne.
Police Sergeant Alexis Hosanna-David, prosecuting, said the defendant accused the virtual complainant of stealing his sister’s phone and pelted him with a brick that caused the latter head injuries.
McKenzie was granted $20,000 bail until January 9.
