Overseas-based Guyanese donates advanced technological equipment to Berbice NGO

THE St Francis Community Developers [SFCD], an organization synonymous with benevolence, was placed on the receiving end last Saturday when an overseas-based Guyanese couple donated to the organisation ten iPads valued at $1.3M to be used to enhance the delivery of education.

During a ceremony held at its Port Mourant, Corentyne location, President of SFCD, Mr Alex Foster, complimented Sahaboob and Rameeza Yassin, who incidentally were celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary, and noted that the gesture was  a historic one, being the first instance that the organization received the fulfillment of a promise from an overseas-based Guyanese.
“People would visit the club and make all sorts of promises, but never fulfill their verbal obligations,” Foster said.
“The Yasseens visited two months ago, and today we can see the fulfillment of that promise,” Foster concluded.
Sahaboob Yasseen informed that his personal resources allowed the purchase of the advanced technological learning tools, which can be used for training purposes.
“And why the gesture?” he asked rhetorically. “I know that everything in life is temporal, and nothing lasts forever, so one needs to be kinder than necessary,” he remarked.
Prior to migrating to the United States in the early 1990s, the Information Technology Communications Administrator was affiliated to, and continued to remain a member of, the United Nations Association of Guyanese, a non-governmental organization which focuses on education.
