APPLICATIONS are invited for applications to the Governing Board of the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority (GNBA), for a licence to provide broadcasting services, inclusive of television, radio and/or cable, to any geographical area in Guyana.
A release from the authority yesterday extended the invitation to any company or trust registered in Guyana, to submit to the GNBA applications by way of letter of application accompanied by certain documentation as is required by the Broadcasting Act, 2011.
A list of the basic documents which need to be submitted with any application is available on request from the office of the GNBA in the compound of the National Frequency Management Unit (NFMU), Hadfield Street.
The board is prepared to treat with all applications equitably, subject necessarily, to the availability of spectrum space which is appreciably a limited commodity.
The authority is open to dialogue to assist through face to face meetings with interested persons who may need any further clarification. The board looks forward to working with any and all applicants.
The Broadcast Authority has also advised that with regard to previous applications made before the Broadcasting Act of 2011 came into force, new ones now have to be made. The board is mindful that a number of persons may have submitted applications prior to the act coming into force, but asks those persons to appreciate that all applications to be considered by the board, have to satisfy the provisions of the Act.
